Immigration Status
The immigration status of a person is defined by the way they arrive in a country besides that of their birth. You will see many types of people queuing in up lines at the immigration points in airports. These points are the gateways for entrance into a country. Before you pass into one of these queues take a moment to look above your head at the signs directing people to the immigration lanes they need to be in so that their immigration status can be determined.
These lanes will encompass sections for foreign visitors to the country, permanent residents of the country and lanes for citizens of the country in question. Now having looked at these and identified where you need to go you should make sure that you have all of the documents that you need ready and filled out.
These documents that you will need are your passport, make sure that it is valid; your boarding card might be needed. You should also have the readily completed entrance form filled out. This form will be provided to you only if you are entering the country as a tourist, a student or a business person.
Once you have made sure that you have all of these documents readied you are all set to answer any questions about your immigration status which may be asked from immigration officials at the counters. These folks will ask you many different questions. The purpose of these questions is to ascertain why you are entering their country.
You will be asked for details about where you are planning to stay. You should truthfully answer this on as this information may be investigated. The length of time that you are planning to stay in the country will be asked and you will be asked to explain the purpose of your visit. Once all of these questions have been answered about your immigration status you will have your passport stamped.
When you have collected all of your possessions and at safely at your chosen place to stay you should take a look at your passport. In one of the pages you will be able to find a visa stamp. This stamp should have a time limit seal placed. In some instances you can stay in another country for about 3 to 6 months. By having your immigration status clarified you can now stay in the country for as long as you need.
