PCMark05 and 3DMark03 scores were below average for a mainstream machine at 3,080 and 1,459 respectively, but recent scores are above average. Sony is still struggling with crapware issues. After removing some unnecessary applications, the PCMark05 score increased to 3,219. If you remove the things which you don’t need, the system performance will definitely boost.
The VGN-NR160E/S wireless networking connection works properly despite the lack of 802.11n capability. The system managed 17.3 and 16.8 Mbps of throughput at 15 and 50 feet from the access point respectively. Sony has also provided a wireless switch in addition to the hardware switch at the base of the body.
The Sony VAIO VGN-NR160E/S is comparatively speedy notebook and to get such a performance for just over $800 is a great thing for the consumers. The VGN-NR160E/S is not so portable, but the large hard drive and crunchy display make it a proper choice for home users. You will definitely get satisfied with this machine!
