Learning Magic Tricks
Learning magic tricks is not very difficult. It doesn’t matter whether you’re ten or twenty, or even whether you’re eighty or a hundred. If you have the desire to learn magic, and if you have the commitment to do so as well, you will find that learning magic tricks is relatively easy.
Of course there will be difficult tricks as well for you to learn if you wish to, but these need not be approached until you have some familiarity with the more easy magic tricks. By doing it this way, you will be able to gradually build up your repertoire of magic tricks as well as your skill level.
Speaking of which, you will find that to build up your skill level, takes time and practice. Much practice is needed before you will be able to smoothly and flawlessly accomplish a magic trick from start to finish. Learning magic tricks also requires you to learn when to cover up a blooper you might do.
You need to go through your routine flawlessly, but unfortunately you are all too human, and this means that sometimes no matter how hard you try, some thing somewhere will go wrong and you will mess up.
As a magician you need to be able to roll with the punches and to take things as they come. When learning magic tricks therefore you also need to learn how to work your audience. If you mess up, that’s fine. If you’re the only one who noticed that you messed up, even better.
If however your audience also noticed that you made a mistake, you need to be able to quickly cover it up by passing it off as part of the trick itself, or by pointing out that mistakes do happen, and that they just witnessed one now.
Remember, you’re a magician, not a god. You can’t do everything right, and when things go wrong, however much you wish a hole would open up beneath you and swallow your misery, it won’t happen. Learn to deal with it in the best possible manner and then move on.
Learning magic tricks, especially if you want to do it for a living, or even for a hobby, also calls for you to be an actor. That’s right, you need to be able to act, for instance you will find that you need to feign surprise – and do it convincingly.
But the most important ingredient in learning magic tricks is not any of these things which have been mentioned here (with the possible exception of practicing diligently of course). The most important thing, is for you to believe in your ability to do the magic. Once you believe, it is only a small jump for the audience to make to believe that you can do magic as well.
