Magic Mind Reading Tricks
Some of the best memories of our childhood (at least mine anyway), are those that were spent in doing the things which allowed us to dream of the impossible, and I have to say that magic fell very neatly into this category. And of all the magic that I saw when I was young (and there were many, believe me!), the magic mind reading tricks were the best.
How did he do that? How did he manage to know exactly what the woman in the front row was thinking, or know exactly what number the man was had in his mind? At that young, impressionable age, these were deeds which defied logic for me, and were questions which seemed unanswerable.
I’m all grown up now, and I have to say that although I have some idea of how the majority of magic mind reading tricks are done, some of them still defy logic for me. And I actually think I am glad for this, it keeps the door open and keeps the magic fresh and mystifying. It makes it so that there’s always something to look forward to.
On the subject of learning magic mind reading tricks and using them in a performance of your own, there are a few things that you will want to know about and do first of all.
To begin with, know that most of these magic mind reading tricks do not utilize anything as heavy as real mind reading (sorry to break your illusions on that one). You will probably need a good memory, or barring that a good assistant and /or a good system whereby you are able to “mind read” what is on the mind of your audience member.
Since mind reading magicians seem to be more suspected of illusions (in essence – magic), it is always a good idea to have a good stage presence that will disarm your audience.
You should ideally cultivate a manner which is at once friendly but not too friendly, and which is also open and honest, just not too open and honest! You will also want to develop a certain flair, and this is true for all magic tricks, not only the magic mind reading tricks, as well as developing a concentrating and serious face to use when the trick calls for it.
Or in other words, if you haven’t noticed, you will need to become a heck of a good actor, and host. After you have all of these things nailed down, you can then move on to the subject of finding yourself a good assistant, one who can keep a straight face, and who can be of invaluable assistance to you.
And lastly, but not least, you will want to pick out a few good magic mind reading tricks which you can perform with relative ease. And once you have done this, you can then move on to the task of practicing and performing your magic tricks in front of a real live audience!
