Science Magic Tricks

Have you ever watched a magician pull a rabbit out of the hat, or mesmerize an entire audience with nothing more than a few words? Maybe you prefer the magicians who are able to do rope tricks, or even disappearing acts. But have you ever given a thought to those magicians who do science magic tricks? You haven’t?

On the contrary, you have, only you never realized it. Most good magicians use science to help them do their various different tricks, they just don’t tell you this, if they did, where would the magic be, in the magic acts?

For a budding magician however, you will find it’s quite helpful really to equate your magic tricks with science. Looking at certain magic tricks in this manner can help you in understanding exactly what it is you’re doing, which in turn can help you to enhance your magic tricks.

There are also simple science magic tricks which you can use in your performance which are as effective as the more difficult ones. In this instance, “science magic tricks” was taken to entail those tricks which look as if it has something to do with science. Other tricks which also entail the usage of science and scientific methods but which don’t look like science magic tricks, can also be found quite readily.

There are a few good science magic tricks available freely which you can use, and one of these uses the science of chemistry to perform the trick. You will need a piece of string, and some salt water. The salt water needs to be a really thick salt water solution for this to work.

Dip the string in the salt water for about one hour. Take it out and leave it to dry. To perform this trick, you will need to ask an audience member for a ring. It should be one that doesn’t weigh very much. Tie the string to one end of the salt-soaked string and it is best if you can tie the other end onto something as well so that the ring will be hanging in mid-air, tied to the string.

Make sure the audience can see that there is no trickery or extra string holding the ring in place. Next, take a match, and light the end of the string from just above where the ring is tied. When the entire string has burnt, your audience will be surprised to see the ring still floating in mid air.

This is where the science part of this one-of-many science magic tricks, comes in. The burned salt crystals and the ash from the thread will combine together to create a very temporary “string” in place of the real one, which will hold the ring in place.

This makes it look like the ring is floating in mid air. And that, was only a taste of the amazing feats which science magic tricks can hold for a magician. Science probably doesn’t seem so boring right now!
