Mont Blanc Pens

Mont blanc pens are made by the German manufacturer Montblanc International GmbH, and they are famous for their “White Star” logo symbol. The company was founded in 1906 by the three associates Claus Johannes Voss, Alfred Nehemias and August Eberstein. The first company name was Simplo Filler Pen, and their first model named Rouge Et Noir was created in 1909, the next model the Mont Blanc was so appreciated that it gave the company its present-day name. In 1934 the company changed name once again, it was changed into Montblanc-Simplo GmbH after they had produced their first pen with a piston filler.

In 1977 Dunhill acquired the Mont Blanc company, and after this move prices were lowered and the Mont Blanc pens started to sell much better. Today the company is part of the Richemont group and sells a larger range of luxury products. The company logo is the white six pointed star with round edges and it has remained unchanged since 1913 when it was first presented as the company's symbol. For several decades the Meisterstuch collection of writing instruments was one of the best available on the market, and at present several new lines have been added; some of these new pens include the Scenium, the Starwalker and the Boheme.

Through their long history Mont Blanc pens were represented by famous people like Johnny Depp, Julianne Moore, Nicolas Cage and Katherine Jenkins; these are just a few of the celebrities who supported the company's publicity campaign. At present opinions are very shared when it comes to Mont Blanc pens, as the company is accused by its clients that the quality dropped while the prices are still high. Statistics show that less than ten percent of the interviewed users were satisfied with the quality of Mont Blanc pens. Nevertheless, the same statistics concluded that Mont Blanc pens have a problem rate much higher than any close competitor.

Critics also argue that there are problems with the manufacturing procedure, the producer claims that the nibs are handmade while they are actually designed by machines and only in the final process they are smoothed manually for several minutes. Moreover, they also claim that manual smoothing is made just for marketing interests and that mechanical polishing is much better. Another disputed element is the price, the production price for Mont Blanc pens is $25 while they are sold for $600; then warranty conditions are better with other competitors that provide life warranty, whereas Mont Blanc gives only two years.
