Poker Guide
There is no better poker guide than experience, and as you progress further down the path of playing poker you will come to recognize this truth. However, if you are only just beginning to play poker, you might find that the best guide for you now is actually the one which tells you how to play poker!
After that, you will find that you need to practice what you learn before you can move on to the poker guide of experience. To begin with though, if you learn how to play poker properly you will have made a very good start.
But where to start from? The beginning would be a good place, but is the beginning of learning to play poker the various different poker hands, or is it the actual game of poker? If we take it to be the latter we can proceed from there onwards.
So, to begin with you need to decide what type of poker you want to learn. This will be your beginning poker guide. Since Texas Holdem seems to be a firm favorite of many beginners we can start from there, and once you have mastered this you can then move on to the other types of poker games.
First of all a dealer is chosen and the dealer button placed in front of this individual so that everyone is clear on this. Then the Big Blind and the Small Blind, the two players on the immediate left of the dealer, post bets which are respectively, the lowest tier of the betting structure and half or a third of the lowest tier of the betting.
In other words if you take a look at your poker guide you will see, that if the betting is at $2/$4, then the Big Blind would place a bet of $2 and the Small Blind would post $1. When this is done, each player is dealt two cards face down by the dealer, these are the players’ own cards and are known as the Hole cards.
Betting commences for this round, with people either raising, calling or folding, after which the dealer deals three community cards face up on the table which can be used by all players to form the strongest five card hand. This is called the Flop.
Betting commences again, after which another card is placed face up on the table. This is called the Turn. Betting takes place, after which a final card is placed face up on the table. This is called the River. Betting will once again commence for the final time.
Your poker guide will tell you that at this point, after all betting has finished, of the remaining players the player with the strongest five card hand, wins the pot. Now wasn’t that easy to learn?
